Finalising the long list of world class artists performing this year are the heroes of Spanish Indie Rock, Los Planetas – Promising to deliver a crowd pleasing set, including their first hit "Qué puedo hacer" (What can I do?) as well as tracks from their album "Super 8", their show will be a firm favourite amongst our Spanish cousins.
The Tom Tom Club will be exploding into action with their supercharged fusion of breaks, bleeps, beats and flips. Expect to be blown away as world champion beat-boxer Tom Thum shows you what his voice box can extraordinarily do. Add to the mix Australia's premier graduates of the Flying Fruit Flies Circus who will be tumbling, flipping and somersaulting across the stage and you’ll get some idea as to why their live set is one of the most highly anticipated of the festival this year.
Also on the bill are Birdy Nam Nam - the highly rated electro Hip Hop DJ crew from France and Barcelona beatsmits Delorean, who recently gained critical UK fame after their remix of The Mystery Jets single ‘Half In Love With Elizabeth’ crashed on UK shores.
American outfit Glass Candy are also expected to dish up a plethora of crowd pleasers as they deliver tracks from recent album Deep Gems.
Like the true masters of the genre that they are, the Madrid band, Los Coronas have transformed surf music in recent times. The five-guy band explore the style, adding vibrant touches in which elements of mystery films and the soundtracks of unforgettable spaghetti westerns can be distinguished, plus a few dashes of rumba and feverish rock. Don’t miss their spectacular live show!
Originally formed in 1998, The Wave Pictures have performed across the globe, from Mofo Festival in Paris to New York’s finest gig-dens. Their London-based pop-rock has garnered fans such a Radio 1’s Huw Stevens and numerous Guardian music critics. A welcome addition to the bill, they can now add proudly add Benicássim as another notch on their proverbial gig post.
The last band to gain a golden ticket to Benicássim will be the winners of the Fast Track to FIB Heineken competition, which takes place on 23rd June at the Pigalle Club in Piccadilly. Watch this space!!
Having already confirmed Oasis, Kings Of Leon, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Paul Weller, Lily Allen, Glasvegas, Elbow, Maxïmo Park, Peaches, The Horrors, The Mystery Jets and Peter Doherty few would disagree that FIB Heineken could now be the best festival of 2009! In light of this year’s phenomenal ticket sales, (and the fact that the festival will be celebrating its 15th birthday), many are tipping this year’s bonanza to be the best yet. Backed by the man behind The Hop Farm Festival and founder of the Mean Fiddler, Vince Power, FIB Heineken will take place from July 16th – 19th on the beautiful east coast of Spain. |
